The Great Evil Empire, Russia
The great evil empire, Russia, has tampered with our election! Horrors! How dare they? It is time the FBI investigate and put a stop to this evil of all evils. No nation should influence the outcome of another nations election. (Sarcasm intended!)
And note this on this morning’s news:
Former U.S. President Barack Obama endorsed centrist candidate Emmanuel Macron for France’s presidential election on Sunday in a video message in which he praised Macron for appealing “to people’s hopes and not their fears.”
“The French election is very important to the future of France and the values that we care so much about,” Obama said in the message, distributed by Macron’s camp.
Ooops! It is evil for the Russian’s but apparently just fine for our political elite to do the same.
How do we reconcile this tit-for-tat behavior from our left leaning political power brokers? Well, of course, we can’t. You simply cannot decry the involvement of Russia in our election and then involve ourselves in France’s election. What is unethical for one is unethical for all. But then, you will have to excuse me, I am not a liberal and do not know how to play this game of bait-and-switch with ethical guidelines.
Barack Obama, shame on you. You have once again tarnished the traditions of our former President’s by stepping forward into that which most of our former leaders have left behind. But then, we should have known.
In 2013, we heard the news:
WASHINGTON (AP) — In an unprecedented move, President Barack Obama’s vaunted political organization is being turned into a nonprofit group — funded in part by corporate money — to mobilize support behind the president’s second-term agenda.
The tax-exempt organization will be called Organizing for Action and seek to harness the energy of Obama’s re-election campaign for future legislative fights. Officials said the group will be separate from the Democratic National Committee and advocate on key policy issues such as gun control and immigration, train future leaders and devote attention to local issues around the country.
Well, guess what, that organization still exists as a ‘government in exile’ intent on influencing the political future of our nation and, now, apparently, the rest of the world also. Tradition holds that former presidents acknowledge the will of the people in moving on after their leadership is past, in deference to our system of government. That is, we have learned to trust the system of free elections and the delegation of power from the people to its leaders, and graciously allow the course of history to prove our system of government as sound and trustworthy.
But that assumes a trust in our constitution and in the principles of the republic that are time honored and sound. But increasingly the left does not trust the constitution or our system of government and presumes to know better than our Founding Fathers what is right, ethical and sound. The crisis of governmental structure is still with us and will continue to be the battle of the century in a nation in flux.
We shall either emerge, in time, as a nation surviving the personalities of power in the ongoing transition of power, or we shall become a nation, not of laws and structure but of personal power and its influence. We shall be a nation of the people, who hold the power or we shall follow the animalistic structures of the Mafia and any other power structure where power is held by the strong men at the top, in an elitist structure of top down power brokering.
I thought we had survived the 8 years of Obama’s power. Maybe not!
