Maj. Hood ran covert intelligence patrols along the Berlin Wall and into the Eastern Sector of Berlin (Russian Zone). In Vietnam he was Commander of the 82d Engineer Company and took a logistical task force into the Ia Drang Valley to support the 1st Cavalry Division. He also served in Korea and is a Distinguished Military Graduate.
He used his retirement time to graduate with yet another degree in archeology and is a practicing archeologist on digs around the world.
